Spilt Milk in Cinemas Now / Cast with the Help of Fishpond

Spilt Milk Now Showing in Cinemas Nationwide

Irish film Spilt Milk made its cinema debut across Ireland last Friday, offering audiences a deeply affecting story that captures the challenges and quiet resilience of youth. With its grounded storytelling and evocative sense of place, the film marks a powerful addition to the current wave of Irish cinema.

We’re especially proud that the cast was brought together with the support of Fishpond, and we’d like to congratulate the entire team on the release of such a thoughtful and impactful film.

A Journey Through a Different Dublin

At the centre of Spilt Milk is Bobby, an eleven-year-old boy growing up in a working-class part of 1980s Dublin. His world is shaped by instability at home, relying heavily on his older brother as both protector and guide.

When his brother suddenly goes missing, Bobby is left to navigate the city alone. His search becomes more than just a mission to find family - it’s a journey that exposes him to the harsher edges of life, while also revealing moments of unexpected connection.

The film paints a vivid portrait of Dublin that feels both intimate and unfiltered, allowing the audience to experience the city through Bobby’s perspective. It’s this balance of grit and sensitivity that gives Spilt Milk its emotional weight.

Crafting an Authentic Irish Story

Behind the camera, Spilt Milk is led by director Brian Durnin, whose approach brings a naturalistic and immersive quality to the film.

With casting by Áine O'Sullivan, the performances across the cast contribute to the film’s authenticity, with a particularly compelling central role that anchors the story with honesty and depth. The film stars Cillian O'Sullivan as Bobby, Danielle galligan as Maura and Lewis Brophy as Oisín.

Together, the creative team has produced a film that feels immediate, personal, and unmistakably Irish.

A Strong Voice in Irish Cinema

Spilt Milk stands as a reflection of the evolving Irish film landscape, one that increasingly embraces stories rooted in real experiences and nuanced characters.

By focusing on a young protagonist and the realities of his environment, the film offers a perspective that is both specific and widely relatable. It’s a reminder of the power of Irish storytelling to connect with audiences through sincerity and emotional truth.

Supporting Talent Across the Industry

At Fishpond, we’re committed to helping actors access real opportunities within the Irish screen sector. Supporting a project like Spilt Milk highlights the kind of meaningful work that can emerge through the platform.

For performers, it’s a clear example of how staying engaged (applying for roles, updating profiles, and connecting with casting professionals) can lead to involvement in high-quality productions.

As the Irish industry continues to grow, so too do the opportunities for actors at every stage of their careers.
