Irish-language film Báite is now showing in cinemas across Ireland, arriving just in time to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge. Beautifully shot and steeped in atmosphere, this compelling new film brings audiences into a small Irish community where secrets begin to surface when the unexpected occurs.

A Story Set in 1970s Ireland

Báite unfolds in a picturesque Irish village during the 1970s. At the heart of the story is Peggy Casey, the proprietor of the local pub, who is preparing for what should be a busy weekend serving the community.

However, the calm of village life is suddenly disrupted when a body is discovered in the receding waters of the nearby lake. What begins as a shocking discovery soon ripples through the tight-knit community, unsettling residents and revealing tensions that had long remained beneath the surface.

When Dublin detective Frank Ryan arrives to investigate, the quiet village atmosphere begins to shift. As the investigation deepens, disturbing truths begin to emerge, challenging the community’s sense of familiarity and trust.

Balancing dark mystery with moments of dry wit, Báite offers audiences a richly textured murder mystery set against the backdrop of rural Ireland.
