Summary

This year, Fishpond is partnering with the Richard Harris International Film Festival to facilitate the 'Monologue Competition' portion of their awards ceremony. This competition is open to ALL actors who would like to compete and tapes will be accepted until the 17th of September.

The Richard Harris Film Festival celebrates the life and work of Richard Harris and those who follow in his footsteps. Licensed by the Harris Estate, affiliated to I.F.T.A. (Irish Film and Television Awards) one of the core objectives of #RHIFF is to offer a platform where Irish and International film-makers from home and abroad can meet, collaborate and view each other's work.

The Monologue Competition will see actors submit a one-minute self tape that will be judged by RHIFF's guest actor (soon to be announced). The top five will then be screened at the awards show where the winner will also be announced. This is a great opportunity for networking with other creatives in the Irish industry and abroad.

To enter the competition please do the following...

1) Pay your submission fee under 'Fees.' Note: your tape will not be considered until this fee is paid, as it's necessary for the admin costs of the festival.

2) Select a one-minute monologue to perform. You're even welcome to write your own! Our only stipulation is that it be kept to around 60 seconds and is intended for screen.

3) Submit your self tape below. This brief will close on the 17th of September and the top five will be contacted by the 7th of October.

Finalists will all receive a free month on Fishpond and have their tapes screened at the festival as well as sent out to Fishpond's database of over 1000 industry professionals here and in the UK.

The winner of the Monologue Competition will be granted a 6-month Fishpond bursary award and be invited to the awards show and the pre-show mixer, red carpet event. This is a great opportunity to network and be seen by top industry players.

How to add your scene
Click 'Send Requested Tape' and follow the instructions to add your scene.

Remember if filming on a phone make sure it is horizontal and wipe the lens before you begin.

Self Taping Tips
  • Film in front of a plain background.
  • If filming on a phone, it should always be on its side.
  • Wipe the lens before you begin.
  • Whatever the device, the lens should be around eye level, not below or far above you. We recommend using a tripod if you have one.
  • Do not look down the lens—your eye line should be just to the right of the lens.

All actors should submit one take of their scene. If more than one take is submitted, the most recent submission will be judged.
